I made some of this last night and it’s delicious
So I am really interesed in Kombuncha and everything it claims to offer however I just can’t get over the rotten taste it leaves in your mouth. It just taste like rotten fruit/vegetables (which it is in a way since it is fermented) but it’s hard to get down. I find myself chugging it when I do drink it and I appreciate the sparkling aspect of it as this helps in distracting my mind as the rotting beverages slides down my throat but who knows maybe I just haven’t found my flavour yet and I think I definitly took a bigger risk this time with the multi-green which is essentially kombucha and green algae. Anyone have any favourites I should try? I’ve tired a guava one that wasn’t bad but otherwise that’s it.
On another note last night was a yummy dinner of Ani Phyo’s raw shiitake miso soup which I was skeptical about considering the large amount of olive oil involved but it was delicious. We also had a sprouts and cabbage salad with sweet miso dressing from Everyday Raw which was delicious- made from white miso, raw tahini, lemon juice and water soooooooo good.
Last night was not a raw not…although I wish it had been but I had items to use before they went bad.
We hard cornmeal crusted seitan from Vegan Soul Kitchen which was delicious with BBQ veggies and creamy cheezy corn and green onion polenta with lots of Chalula hot sauce. It was a great meal but I am looking forward to something raw tonight.
I have not decided yet what I am going to make but it should be yummy.
Once I get my camera battery charged I’ll be posting pics.
I think I am addicted to Raw Lasagna! It is soooo good!
I made a different recipe this time and I really enjoyed it more. The first recipe I tired, although good, was far to heavy with all the nut meat and nut cheeze. This recipe which you can find here: http://gliving.com/zucchini-and-green-zebra-tomato-lasagna/ was great and filling and light.
I didn’t make exactly this recipe as I had some garlic scapes so I made a garlic scape pesto instead of the basil pistacho and my pine nut ricotta didn’t turn out light and fluffy more saucy (i think i over soaked the pine nuts). But over all it was delicious. Now I just have to figure out the rest of the week!
Oh Neil and I were bad this weekend we had yummy Chinese from A Single Pebble which was incredibleeeeeeeee and we had a bottle of wine (we decided to have a replacement anniversary weekend since our original one didn’t go quiet as planned). Then we had delicious brunch at Magonlia. Then we had lots of bread haha sandwiches for lunch and dinner (we were going to grill a pizza but the coals got tooo hot so we had to scrap it and I used the tomatoes to make soup and we had grilled teese and soup. Then yesterday we had raw cheesecake, vegan seitan rubens and then we went to a ball game and got veggie burgers and fries- i don’t know what we were thinking. So basically we suck haha but I am being good today (and for at least the rest of the week).
Today I am having green jucie, banana, apple, melon, and more green juice.
I was lucky enough that my husband worked from home yesterday and was able to prep the spicy “beans” for our tacos. I used the recipe from this post http://gliving.com/sarmas-soft-corn-tacos/ as the basis for our tacos. Neil made the spicy beans and I made the guacamole and salsa. I didn’t have the time to make the tacos shells but instead we just used boston lettuce leaves and it was delicious. The spicy “beans” tasted just like veggie ground round (oh and we didn’t dehydrate for 10 hours more like 3). The meal was great and tonight I am being ambitious and make raw blackforest cheezecake!
Honestly I thought going raw was going to be a lot easier than it is. However I’m really struggling at giving up none raw foods- as well as fully liking the raw dishes I create.
I made a rawzanga and it was amazing and this raw broccoli and cheeze dish that was good. I also have made raw brownies which my husband can’t stop talking about. However then there was the raw burgers and sweet potatoes I just couldn’t get into it.
I think I just need to take more time and try new things as well as take a slower approach to raw food rather than just jumping in.
The most difficult thing I am finding however is that all the raw dishes I want to create take hours to make. I don’t have hours I work full time and mangage a house and have very little me time so it’s like what’s a girl to do? How can I put something in the dehydrator for 3 hours when I work from 7-5 and if i put it in when i get home we can’t even enjoy it til 8.
Anyways I have decided to go back to my cooking ways and leave 1-2 days a week for raw dinners (lunches may or may not be raw those are easier to do with salads and such).
I also need to jump back into working out I have been awful about it lately. It just seems like we are never home and our house is it rough shape from being gone every weekend and working all day – it’s hard to go home at the end of the day and just spend all my time cleaning and putting things away as well as until this past weekend we were lacking in places to store things. Anyways it’s back to working out today because I need to get back in shape for our cruise which is just a few months away.
I guess it’s time to work now.
Cheers.
