Over the past few months I have been have been trying to decide what direction I want Running With Tongs to go in.
One of the things that keeps coming up in conversations I’ve had with other bloggers is how I’ve approached dividing my content between my several blogs and social media accounts. The one question that keeps coming up is “Why do you have so many accounts?”. The truth is, I’ve been hesitant to mix my content on Running With Tongs since getting negative feedback several years ago when sharing my stories of my first pregnancy.
It left me feeling pressured to separate my life as a mom from my interests in food and fitness. But without sharing all of this, I feel like I’m not giving a fair representation of who I am to you. The truth is, I’m not just a lifestyle blogger or a parenting blogger. I am a mom. I love food and fitness. I’m passionate about natural body care and make up. I’m an essential oils educator and wellness advocate. I want to share all of this with you. These are the things I want to talk about with my friends and that’s what we are here, friends.
I’ll still be maintaining a couple different social media accounts, but I’m incredibly excited to get back to writing and sharing a lot more of me and my passions with you here on Running With Tongs.

Maybe I’m an anomaly, but the whole “ehrmagerd I hope she’s not going to start blogging about pregnancy/baby/wedding/moving/whatever is going on in the blogger’s life”-thing has always puzzled me. I read the blogs that I read because I somehow feel a bit of a connection to them – in your case, you were a vegan who posted wrote about hiking, and I’m an aspiring vegan (damn you, pizza and milk chocolate!) who loves hiking – and if they totally avoid posting about personal stuff or what’s most important in their lives at that moment, that connection is lost.
Anyhoo, I’m excited to keep following along with your changes!

Interesting…I’m re-evaluation direction and content so it’s nice to hear I’m not the only one. I do feel like the best bloggers are those who do share life’s trials and tribulations. Good luck with finding your new way.

I read blogs not only for their service, tips and ideas, but also to feel connected to the people writing them. I’m a big fan of sites that do both.
The personal connection isn’t for everyone, but that’s ok. You can’t please the masses. Do whatever feels right to you!

I’m with Trailsnails that it’s funny to me that people only want one facet of a person and not the rest – though honestly if I could create filteres or groups like a Portland group or Food group or Photography group I probably would depending on what sometimes I’m in the mood to browse through sometimes. Whatever you decide to do I look forward to what you’ll do in 2017!

I have had a few different blogs and for me, personally, the best decision I ever made was to combine everything into one blog. All aspects are intertwined, and honestly: that’s what blog categories are for! It is rare that someone comes to your site in general; most people arrive through a link to specific content, and from there they can pick and choose what they want to read. Even if they do arrive at your site’s home page by general inquiry, they have the power to read what they want and skip what they don’t want. You do you, girl! š

I have a similar dilemma as I have a blog about salad and am in the process of creating another about metalsmithing and jewelry making. Two completely different subjects! But I know there will be people who want to engage with both, and some who will engage with on and not the other. I’m curious to see what direction you decide to go. Good luck, from one Lindsay to another

Congrats on the pregnancy!! I read both your blogs and I really didn’t know why they weren’t combined. Combine away.. simplify life where you can. People can easily pick and choose which of your entries they want to read.
